Daron Garvis Gets Recruiting Looks

Daron GarviDaron Garvis, a 5-foot-9, 178-pound running back from Richfield (MN) High, is one of the state's top juniors. Garvis is a three-sport athlete for the Spartans, playing basketball and running track. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Garvis to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Daron Garvis helped lead the Spartans to a 3-7 mark last season, losing to St. Thomas Academy 46-0 in the second round of the Class AAAA section 3 playoffs. He rushed 100 times for 365 yards and three touchdowns.

What schools are you hearing from right now?

"Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and a couple of schools close to home."

Did you get a chance to attend any camps last summer?

"I did not go to any camps. I went to NUC (National Underclassmen Combine) in Eagan"

Have you thought much about what camps you would like to attend this summer?

"I want to go back to that one and a couple different ones. Some out of state."

Did you get a chance to go to any college games this past fall?

"No college games."

What position are most colleges looking at playing?

"Running Back."

What are your strengths as a player?

"Quickness. Strength. Inside the tackles I can run or go outside."

"What events do you run for track?

"100, 200 and 4 x 100. My best time for the 100 was 10.89 and my best time for the 200 was 21.4."
