Tubby Smith Catches Chaska-Apple Valley Tilt

Eighth-grade point guard Tyus Jones scored 19 points, but it wasn't enough as Apple Valley fell to Lake Conference rival Chaska 78-75. Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith was in attendance. Ross Travis scored on a alley-oop dunk to put Chaska up 76-75 and the Hawks sealed the game with free throws.

Senior guard Jacob Meyer led the Hawks with 27 points as he made seven three-pointers. Jake White had 19 points and Ross Travis scored 16 points in his first game back after back problems.

Apple Valley had four players in double figures, led by Tom Schalk with 25. Tyus Jones scored 19, Zach Johnson had 16 and Isiah Thomas had eleven.

Apple Valley, which fell to 19-7, will be the top seed in the Section 3, Class AAAA playoffs. Chaska snapped a three-game losing Streak, to improve to 15-11. The Hawks will be the third seed in the Section A, Class AAAA playoffs.
