Anthony Tucker will transfer to Winona State

Iowa sophomore guard Anthony Tucker will transfer to Division II Winona State at the end of his second semester at Iowa City. Tucker, who led Minnetonka to a 2008 Class AAAA title, attended The Skippers regular season finale Friday night. Tucker will reunited with former high school teammate C.J. Erickson, who started his career at Evansville before transferring to Winona.

Anthony Tucker played and in first 11 games this season as he averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Tucker averaged 10.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.6 assists per contest as a freshman.

Tucker would be eligible immediately for Winona, which finished their season 20-9 after losing to Southwest Minnesota State in the NSIC semifinals. The Warriors won the 2006 and 2008 NCAA division II titles and was runner-up in 2007.

The Warriors must replace leading scorer David Johnson, their lone graduating senior. Johnson was named first team NSIC the past two seasons. He averaged 19.1 points per game.

Former Minnesota wide receiver Ben Fischer was named second team All-NSIC. He averaged 10.7 points and 7.3 assists per game. Fische, a 6-foot-1 junior point guard, was a first team selection as a sophomore.
