Mo Walker To Make Minnesota Visit in April

Maurice (Mo) Walker, a 6-10, 300-pounder from Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy, will visit Minnesota next month. Walker, who is one of the top available big men, is hearing from schools such as Rutgers, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Virginia, Connecticut, Marquette, Penn State, Providence and Minnesota. All the schools have offered him a scholarship except for Georgetown and Connecticut.

Mo Walker previously visited Pittsburgh and will make an official visit to Minnesota April 9th.

Minnesota is looking for frontcourt size with questions surrounding the futures of Trevor Mbakwe and Royce White. The Gophers are also pursuing junior college forward Dwight McCombs.

Walker visited Pittsburgh in November and nearly committed to the Panthers. However, he decided to take other visits before making his decision. Pittsburgh signed three players in the early signing period and may have to have a player transfer to open up a scholarship for Walker.

Brewster Academy won the National Prep Championship and the New England Championship and finished with a record of 35-5.

Walker was named to the NEPSC Class A honorable mention. The Canadian native was named the 2009 Ontario Mr. Basketball. He is a three-time member of Canadian Junior National Basketball Team and a two-time member of Canadian Nike Global Game Team. Walker was a first Team All-Canada selection and played for Team Takeover-Canada.

Head coach Tubby Smith and assistant Saul Smith have both been to watch Walker in action.
