Howard Pulley Goes 4-1 in Boo Williams

Howard Pulley finished 4-1 in the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Virginia. The showing was very impressive in their 2010 debut as they had four sophomores, including three starters and only one player over 6-foot-5. The Boo Williams event was loaded with talent as 52 of ESPN's Super 60 were in attendance. GoldenSports.Net was in attendance this weekend and the following is a recap.

Howard Pulley rallied from a ten-point first half deficit to defeat Seattle Rotary 66-59 in their opening game of the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Virginia.

Howard Pulley trailed 23-13, but rallied to tie the score at 27-27. However, Seattle Rotary scored nine of the last eleven points of the half to take a 36-29 halftime lead.

The two teams battle back and forth in the second half and Seattle rotary took a 58-55 lead. However, they turned the ball over on back-to-back trips down the court as they tried to spread the floor. Marvin Singleton took the ball from midcourt and dunked the ball to put Pulley up 59-58. Joe Coleman scored a lay-up and made the free throw to complete the three-point play to make it a four-point game. They sealed the win with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.

Coleman had 21 points as he made five of nine shots from the field and ten of 13 from the line. Isaiah Zierden and Columbia Heights guard Zach Lofton each scored twelve points in the win.


Howard Pulley defeated the South Carolina Ravens 85-63 as Coleman finished with 24 points and ten rebounds. Singleton had 14 points and seven caroms. Lofton added 13 points and Johnny Woodard chipped in with eight points. Siyani Chambers had five points and seven assists and Nick Latzke had two three-pointers as he had six points.


Howard Pulley defeated King James 55-39 as Woodard had 13 points. Coleman, Singleton and Zierden each scored ten points. Coleman missed the second half with an ankle injury.


Howard Pulley suffered their first loss of the spring as they fell to Each One Teach One 66-56. Marvin Singleton led Pulley with 18. Austin Rivers scored 18 points for the victors. Pulley played with Coleman.


Pulley bounced back to defeat The Family 81-74 as Zierden scored 30 points, including seven three-pointers. He made six from beyond the arc in the first half, Woodard added 20 points in the win.
