Anthony Hayes Is Getting Recruiting Looks

Anthony Hayes, a 6-foot-3, 293-pound nose tackle from Mendota Heights (MN) St. Thomas Academy, is starting to attract recruiting interest. Hayes attended Minnesota's spring game Saturday. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Hayes to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Anthony Hayes helped pace St. Thomas to an 11-1 mark last season, losing to Sartell-Stephen 31-29 in the Class AAAA quarterfinals. He told GoldenSports.Net that he is hearing from a variety of colleges.

"Mostly, right now, it is Wyoming, Boston College, a little bit from Minnesota. I went to Wisconsin's spring practice a couple of weeks ago. Iowa State. Augustana. I am going to the Nike Elite Invite Camp at Ohio State next weekend."

Hayes has high expectations for the Cadets this upcoming season, despite losing some talented seniors.

"We always have a tough defense and a really good offense. We always have a good mentality. Try your hardest. We are going to run this play. We are going to win."

Hayes, who bench presses 315 pounds, is working hard to get ready for his senior season.

"I lost nine pounds. I have been working out. I am doing track right now. I am doing sprinting instead of throwing. That has helped a lot. I am getting a lot faster. I ran like a 13.9 or 13.8. One of my football coaches is a track coach, so we usually do short distance stuff with him."
