Tony Durkin Makes Minnesota Visit

Tony Durkin, a 5-foot-3, 270-pound center from Tinley Park (IL) Andrew High School, made an unofficial visit to Minnesota Wednesday and plans to visit Big Ten rival Purdue Thursday. Durkin has a scholarship offer from the Gophers and former teammate Mark Lenkiewicz signed with Minnesota. Durkin hopes to make a decision soon and could become the Gophers' second commitment for the Class of 2011.

Tony Durkin has received scholarship has offers from Arizona, Air Force, Ball State, Central Michigan, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota, Western Kentucky and Wyoming. He has visited Ball State, Central Michigan, Illinois and Illinois State.

Durkin helped lead the Thunderbolts to a 5-4 mark as a junior. He will be a three-year starter. He started as a sophomore at guard, but moved to center, his likely college position last season.
