Devin Crawford-Tufts Talks About Gopher Offer

Devin Crawford-Tufts, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide receiver from Edina (MN) High, recently received a Minnesota offer. Crawford-Tufts shined at the Minnesota 7-on-7 passing tournament. GoldenSports.Net caught up Crawford-Tufts Saturday to learn about the offer and the latest on his recruitment.

Devin Crawford-Tufts caught 21 passes for 532 and four touchdowns this past season as Edina finished 5-5, losing to Eden Prairie 51-21 in the second round of the Class AAAAA, Section 6 playoffs. He had two big games this season as he caught four passes for 165 yards and one touchdown in a 36-13 loss to Hopkins and he has seven grabs for 168 yards in a 46-43 victory over Shakopee.

Crawford-Tufts also shined for the Edina track and field team, winning the 100 (10.75) and 200 meter (21.83) dash and finishing second in the long jump (21-9 1/4), despite rainy weather.

Minnesota offered you this week. When was that?

"Monday."

What other camps are you going to after this?

"I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend. I'm leaving tonight and coming back Tuesday And then Michigan State next month."

You had a great state tournament in track. You have to be really proud of your accomplishments?

"There was pressure because I needed to score points, so our team could place. I had had competition all year and I was expecting unless I hurt myself or fell over or something. I am obviously going to run my fastest. I was expecting to win. I always expect to win."

You had some bad weather that day, right?

"It was raining, which made the track tough to run on, but I was still out there, doing my job."

What are the expectations for Edina this season?

"Win the state championship. That is always our goal. We are going to do our best and see what happens."

Are you playing in any 7-on-7 leagues?

"At Hopkins, we are doing 7-on-7 every Tuesday. Hopkins, Eden Prairie and Wayzata."

What types of things are you doing to improve yourself as a player?

"Work on my hands. Route-running. Makes sure that everything is crisp and clean. Scores touchdowns."

Have you thought about a possible major?

"Not really. I like business and maybe own my own business or something like that, but I have not really taken a lot of thought into it yet."

What is your GPA?

"3.0, 2.9."

Do you have another other camps planned?

"Nothing big. Just stuff with the team. Training and lifting."

Did you have a chance to go to any college games last year?

"I went to one of the U of M games against Air Force. That was the only college game I went to. I've never really a big college watcher, really. Mostly, NFL."

Have you thought much about running track in college?

"I want to play football and if I'm allowed to run track, I'll do that because track compliments football. It gets you in shape and gets you fast."

Have you talked to many college teams track-wise?

"I haven't really gotten anything for track."

What was your feeling when you got the offer from Minnesota?

"I was actually really excited. I didn't think that they were going to offer me. I was just thinking about coming to the camp and try to do my best to get recognized. I was not expecting an offer at all."

Have you thought about when you would like to make a college decision?

"I'm just going over with my parents. We still need to talk about it,"

What other schools are you hearing from besides Wisconsin and Michigan State?

"Northwestern, Wyoming. I've gotten some letters from Michigan."
