Currently standing 6-foot-2, weighing 180 pounds and boasting a sub 10.7 100 meter dash, Edina high school wide receiver and track star Devin Crawford-Tufts gave his commitment on Friday to fulfill his dream of playing football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
"I was born and raised in Minnesota and I've known the Gophers my whole life. Minnesota is close to home, it's a great school, with a great football team and tradition. I looked at what Minnesota and other colleges had to offer and I realized that Minnesota is the best choice for me. I think it's amazing to get the opportunity to play for such a great program. It's kind of always been one of my dreams to play at home and have everyone be able to come and watch me."
Crawford-Tufts' new home once he dons the Maroon and Gold with be TCF Bank Stadium.
"I think it is going to be amazing, I went to the game against Air Force last year, and I got the chance to play on the field at the Gophers' camp. It's an amazing stadium and I'm really looking forward to playing a game there. I'm most excited to play against Michigan and Wisconsin."
Before Crawford-Tufts gets to suit up for Minnesota he has one year left in the Green and White of Edina. He is working hard this summer to ensure he has a successful last season for the Hornets. "I have been lifting and doing 7-on-7 with my team. I've been staying in shape and making sure I know our playbook."
When he runs out of the tunnel at TCF Bank Stadium for the first time, Crawford-Tufts had news for Gopher fans on what they can expect to see from him as a player.
"They can expect to see someone who is fast, and who can make a play. I will go as hard as I can every play."
While Crawford-Tufts will be courteous and still accept letters that are being sent to him from other schools, he makes it clear where he stands with the recruiting process saying, "I'm set on Minnesota."
