Women's Golf
STARKVILLE, MISS. - The Mississippi State women's golf team completed their first round of the Duramed Cougar Classic today in Charleston, S.C. The Lady Bulldogs shot a 315 today which landed them in 19th place in the tournament.

Senior Erika Thornton led the Bulldogs with a 5-over-par 77 in the first round. Sophomore Maria Roos finished second on the team with a 78. Senior Mallory Batson and freshman Esther Huffman both shot an 80 in the round while freshman Mary Langdon Gallagher posted an 83.

The Lady Bulldogs will continue the Duramed Cougar Classic tomorrow starting at 7:50 a.m. CT.

Women's Tennis
AUBURN, Ala. - State's women's tennis team concluded their final day of action with several wins at the SEC Fall Coaches' Classic Sunday.Mississippi State earned four victories in six singles matches on the day.

In Flight 1B, State junior Olesya Tsigvintseva defeated Alexus Coats of LSU in a thrilling third-set super tiebreaker 6-4, 6-7(5), 1-0(8). Meanwhile, Lady Bulldog junior Mariia Ryzhova fell to Auburn's Emily Newton 6-3, 6-3 in Flight 2B. Danielle Terpko, a State sophomore, defeated Caitlin McGraw of Kentucky 6-4, 6-1 in Flight 4A competition.

Another shining moment for Mississippi State was freshman Roseline Dion. Hailing from Repenghny, Quebec, Canada, Dion gained her first victory as a Lady Bulldog, rolling past Kentucky's Marni Venter in Flight 4B 6-0, 6-3. Also, Lady Bulldog junior Jordan Zachary was victorious in Flight 5A as she ousted Kentucky sophomore Elle Coldiron 6-1, 6-3.

Senior Elizabeth Hall dropped a straight-set affair to Florida's Brittany Borsanyi in Flight 5B and rookie Vivian Pietraroia did not compete on the final day of play.

The Lady Bulldogs will return to action Friday, September 24, when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Roberta Alison Invite.

Men's Golf
STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second-straight year, the Mississippi State men's golf team will tee of its fall season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, which is played at the par-72 Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.

It is the eighth annual play of the tournament which is hosted by Southern Mississippi, and contains a field of 15 teams including Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Rice, South Alabama, defending champion Southeastern Louisiana, Troy, Wichita State and Winthrop.

Last season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate the Bulldogs finished eighth with a three-round total score of 857 and were led by then-true freshman Mike Genovese who had a career-best individual finish, tying for fifth with a 5-under-par showing. Genovese will return to this year's event in the Bulldog lineup as he is playing in his 10th career tournament with the Maroon and White.

Joining Genovese are sophomores Brad Mason and Robi Calvesbert who both highlighted the Bulldogs play last season. Mason is making his 11th appearance for MState and was the team's top finisher twice last season, including a top 10 effort at last year's SEC Championship to conclude the year. Calvesbert is playing in his 12th career tournament and was MSU's top finisher a team-best four times last season. In the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, Mason and Calvesbert respectively posted scores of 220 and 218 through 54 holes.

Coach Homan has three newcomers making their debut for the Maroon and White. Junior transfer Alex Rowland, who came to MSU by way of nearby Itawamba Community College, will be competing as an individual for the Bulldogs. True freshmen Chad Ramey of Fulton, Miss. and Axel Boasson of Gardabaer, Iceland will be competing in the Bulldog lineup for the first time in their young careers.

Tournament action will tee off tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. CT in a shotgun start with first and second round play concluding tomorrow. Third and final round action will be played 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Results at the conclusion of each day will be available at
