MSU Friday Baseball Scrimmage Stats/Info

Mississippi State baseball played their 14th scrimmage of the fall Friday afternoon. Included are complete stats and notes. The next scrimmage is Saturday morning beginning at 10:30 am.

Notes from the park:
  • The eight and a half inning scrimmage started at about 4:00 pm.
  • Freshman first baseman Wes Rea didn't play in the game due to a minor ankle injury.
  • Each pitcher can throw no more than 20 pitches per inning. When they reach that 20-pitch count the inning stops no matter what the count is on the hitter and how many outs there are in the inning.
  • During the fall, the team is using the new metal bats that have been approved to hit with in college this year. When you hear the bat hit the ball it almost sounds like a ball hitting a wooden bat.
  • Highlights from the scrimmage:

  • Junior Brent Brownlee was 2-for-4 with a double.
  • Senior Jarrod Parks was 3-for-3 with a double, a sac fly and an RBI.
