Duffy, a member of the MSU baseball program from 2006 to 2010, is undergoing rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. The Naples, Fla., native was critically injured in a mid-August diving accident in Key West, Fla.
The MSU baseball team launched the drive to assist with Duffy's medical expenses last month, quickly selling all 4,000 of the maroon wristbands that bear the campaign slogan and the distinctive "baseball MS" logo. A second shipment containing 6,000 wristbands arrived this week, and the additional wristbands are being distributed by the Diamond Girls as well as by individuals and businesses within the Starkville and Mississippi State community.
The "Do It For Duffy" wristbands are also available by mail for fans and friends beyond the Starkville community. Those supporting the campaign through mail orders are asked to include $5 per wristband and an additional $1 per order to handle postage and handling. Checks should be made payable to: Ryan Duffy Recovery Fund, c/o MSU Baseball Office, P.O. Box 5327, Mississippi State, MS 39762.
Those interested in obtaining additional information on participating in or assisting with the "Do It For Duffy" campaign are asked to contact the MSU Baseball Office (662-325-3597).
