Mississippi State baseball played their first baseball game of the Bulldog World Series Wednesday with the Maroon team winning. Included are complete stats and notes. MSU plays the second game of the series Friday, beginning at 4pm.
Highlights from the scrimmage:
Senior Nick Vickerson was 2-for-2 with a walk.
Senior Wes Thigpen was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Freshman Brayden Jones was 2-for-3 with a double.
Junior David Bishop was 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. David has now hit three home runs this fall, the most on the team.
Freshman Garrett Pitts was 1-for-1.
Senior Jaron Shepherd was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Senior Ryan Collins was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.
Freshman Adam Frazier was 1-for-1 with a double and a sacrifice bunt.
Freshman Evan Mitchell was 1-for-1.

First baseman Daryl Norris made a great leaping catch of a line drive to first base, doubling up the runner.
