Allen officially visited Mississippi State the weekend of November 19th. And that visit was what won him over.
"I visited Mississippi State a couple of weekends ago," said Allen. "I loved the whole atmosphere. I loved everything about it, the football team, the fans, everything. It was nice down there. And I like the SEC. That was why I made my choice."
"I talked to Vick Ballard and James Carmon," said Allen. "They said they love it up there. They said it's a good school, good program, good coaches."
He also got to visit with not only his recruiting coach but his position coach as well, and came away impressed.
"Coach (Chris) Wilson, the defensive line coach, recruited me," said Allen. "He is a nice, good person."
With Mississippi State starting defensive end Pernell McPhee graduating this season, State's coaches were looking for a junior college defensive end to come in and play right away. And it appears they got their man with the commitment of Allen.
"They want me to come in be a leader and start," said Allen. "And I'm going to work my tail off."
Allen is Mississippi State's 23rd commitment, 18 of whom are either Mississippi high school players or Mississippi junior college players.
