  • Notes From The Park:

  • This was the first time Tim Statz had pitched in a scrimmage since signing with MSU. He had Tommy John surgery as a sophomore at junior college. He showed a solid fastball as well as a good changeup and curveball. Of his strikeouts, he stuck out one with a fastball, a curveball and a changeup. He threw 14 pitches, 10 for strikes.
  • This was also Michael Dixon's first time to throw in a scrimmage since early last fall. He also had Tommy John surgery. Although he was about 50% throwing strikes, he kept the ball down and showed some movement on his fastball.
  • Andrew Busby had a little problem throwing strikes at times but he kept the ball down in the zone most of his two innings. Of his six outs, 1 was on a strikeout and the other five were all ground ball outs including two double plays.
  • Caleb Reed also recorded all ground ball outs in his one inning of work.
