A Q&A With Marques Cheeks

Scout.com talks with class of 2012 defensive lineman/offensive lineman Marques Cheeks of O.Perry Walker High School (New Orleans, LA) about the camps he has attended and how his recruiting is going.

What is your height and weight?
"6-3.5 and 240."

What camps have you gone to so far?
"I've gone to ULM (University of Louisiana Monroe) and Mississippi State."

What other camps do you plan on attending?
"I plan on going to LSU, Minnesota wants me to come to one of their camps, and Alabama. Whoever wants me to come, I'll be happy to go there."

What do the coaches say to you when you go to their camps?
"After seeing me, they tell me that I could be a good defensive end or defensive tackle for them. They think I could be a good, dominant player for them."

What have you liked about the camps that you have gone to?
"The thing I like the most is the new things I learned about being a defensive end and defensive linemen, how to turn my hips and how to get past the defender who is blocking me and go to the quarterback."

What colleges are showing interest in you?
"Minnesota, FIU (Florida International), Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, Arizona, Arizona State and some others."

What schools have offered scholarships?
"FIU, Mississippi State, Minnesota and Kansas State."

Of the schools that have offered you, what did they say they liked about you?
"They said I have good explosiveness off the line. They said I'm a good, dominant player. And they like my overall attitude."
