Reid Humphreys Commits to MSU

Northwest Rankin High School shortstop/pitcher Reid Humphreys, one of the top players in the Mississippi class of 2013, has given his verbal committment to play baseball at Mississippi State University.

"I committed to Mississippi State this morning," said Humphreys. "I really have been thinking about Mississippi State baseball. My brother (former MSU baseball player Tyler Moore) went to college there and I really liked when I was younger going up there because of the surroudning and the atmosphere at Mississippi State. And that was where I wanted to go to college, so that is where I committed."

This past season, as a sophomore, Humphreys batted .412 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI in 24 games. He also had a 5-2 record with a 3.18 earned run average on the mound.

Coached by Jeff McClaskey, Reid helped the Northwest Rankin Cougars to a 25-6 record this past season.

Reid Humphreys is the firt Bulldog commitment for the class of 2013 but not MSU's only commitment.

MSU also has a couple of 2012 commitments and a 2015 commitment.

Mississippian Jacob Shempert (INF/C, 5-10, 185) of Houston High School and Alabamian Daniel Garner (C, 6-1, 200) of Sparkman High School are the 2012 commitments. Mississippian Luke Alexander (INF, 5-10, 150) of Belmont High School is the 2015 commitment.
