John Marc Shelly Update

St. George High School (Memphis, TN) righthanded pitcher John Marc Shelly, a member of the Tennessee class of 2012, had two offers prior to this weekend and walked away with another one Sunday afternoon.

"I talked to (MSU head) Coach (John) Cohen today in his office after the tournament was over and he offered me a scholarship," said the 6-0, 190-pounder. "It was a good talk, and I definitely look forward to continuing to talk to him."

But Mississippi State is not his only offer.

"I (also) have offers from Memphis and Arkansas State," said Shelly, who throws a 88-91, 93 miles per hour two-seam fastball that has good movement as well as a slider and a changeup. "And Southern Miss and Ole Miss are also recruiting me. The Naval Academy is recruiting me pretty hard, too."

As for schools that he's interested in, he said, "I am really interested in Memphis, Arkansas State and Mississippi State because they have come to me and offered me a scholarship. I really like Ole Miss, too. But I pretty much like all the schools that are recruiting me."

But at the moment one school sits on top of his wish list.

"Mississippi State is definitely number 1 right now," said John Marc Shelly. "It's a great campus, a great school, great tradition, the fans are awesome, and the coaching staff is the best in the nation."
