2013 Dustin Smith Update

Dustin Smith, who plays his high school ball for Richland (MS) High School, is playing his first summer with the PSA Sox Blue travel team this year. And the experience is making him a much better player.

"We've played in a tournament in Meridian and here at Mississippi State," said Smith. "Playing in tournaments like this gives me better experience because there are better players and it helps prepare me for the next level."

Smith talked about his strengths as a player and the things he needs additional work on.

"I still have a lot of improvement to make but I'm getting there through a lot of practice," said Smith. "My fielding is my strength but my hitting still needs a little work. I just need to get my timing down and face better pitching."

Dustin Smith, who plays shortstop and pitches, is 6-1 and weighs 170 pounds. He is a player to watch this coming season.
