What did you have going for you during today's game?
"My curve was my out pitch today. I really controlled it well. Also, I threw a cutter, something I've been working on. I got a few outs with that."
What are some things you are working on this summer?
"The cutter is the pitch I'm trying to develop. (MSU pitching) Coach (Butch) Thompson and I tried to work on it during the fall but I didn't get control of it. Now, (Tupelo 49ers manager) Kirk (Presley) and I are working with it during the summer. And it's getting to the point where I can control it better."
What does the cutter do?
"It is supposed to cut away from a righty and have a little drop to it. Mine is dropping but it's not getting the cut that I want, so I need to continue working with it and try to develop it more."
Is there anything else you are trying to work on this summer?
"I'm working on location and spotting up pitches with my fastball mainly. But also my curveball. I didn't have the control I wanted today with my fastball but my curveball was really good."
Your velocity was in the 88-89 range starting out. Has that been your consistent velocity so far during the summer?
"I had a long first inning so I took some (velocity) off of it, trying to locate it better after that. And I was throwing my two-seam fastball more than my four-seam today."
You had a couple of hits today, including a two-run home run. I know you only pitched at Mississippi State but you looked like a pretty good hitter today.
"I did ok. My first at-bat he left a fastball up and I got on it pretty good. But he got me the second time around. I'm trying to get some at-bats this summer because I missed (hitting) a little bit."
