Louisiana 4A Top 10 Rankings - Week 5

Quadry Antoine (Mississippi State commit) and the Belle Chasse Cardinals are 5-0 after roaring past Vandebilt Catholic Friday night. Where does Belle Chasse rank among the elite of Class 4A? 1. BREAUX BRIDGE (1) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated 5A Woodlawn-Baton Rouge, 49-42. WR Travin Dural, an LSU commit, caught three touchdown passes, including the game-winning grab as time expired. He has nine touchdown receptions on the season. QB Lane Landry continued to play well in replacement of injured starter Randall Menard. Senior running backs Lamar Louis (LSU commit) and Adrian Menard combined to churn out 368 yards and two TDs, according to Rich Loup of the (Baton Rouge) Advocate. Louis - projected as a LB on the next level - had 209 yards. Menard dashed for a 72-yard score. LB Tyren Alexander (UL-Lafayette commit) blocked a punt and returned it for six points. WR Kavahra Holmes is also pledged to LSU. The 42 points surrendered by the Breaux Bridge defense was more than the unit allowed in the previous four games combined. The offense tallied at least 40 points for the third consecutive time. This week: St. Martinville (4-1)

2. NEVILLE (2) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated 5A Airline, 41-14. Four-star junior prospect John Diarse accounted for five touchdowns, according to Pesky Hill of the Shreveport Times. Diarse ran for a couple of scores and tossed three more to wide receiver Brandon Walker. Senior inside linebacker Ricky Wyatt is having a tremendous year for a defense that is yielding slightly more than 11 points per game. Neville has held three foes to single digits. This week: at Bastrop (2-3)

3. ST. THOMAS MORE (3) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Cougars defeated 5A Barbe, 39-36. Don Oliver nailed a 28-yard field goal at the buzzer to clip the Buccaneers. Junior QB Brandon Bergeron hasn't let up all year in the passing department. He threw for 259 yards (22-of-30) and ran for two TDs. Sturdy senior backs Matt Flores and Jon Juneau each punched in touchdown runs. WR Andrew Stevenson (LSU baseball commit) pulled in a two-point conversion pass from Bergeron. This week: Teurlings Catholic (3-2)

4. LUTCHER (4) -- (4-1) -- Last week, the Bulldogs defeated Broadmoor, 42-14. Three-star RB Daniel Taylor went for 124 yards on 14 carries with three TDs, bringing his season totals to 754 yards with nine touchdowns. Ruston Matherne completed 13-of-20 passes for 140 yards and two TDs, according to Robin Fambrough of the Advocate. Hard-nosed sophomore LB Blake Roussel has 47 tackles, including a season-high 15 stops vs. Hahnville. Three-star CB Jordan Batiste is committed to Ole Miss. After a season-opening 32-8 loss to 5A Dutchtown, the Bulldogs have scored at least 32 points in every game. This week: Istrouma (0-4)

5. O.P. WALKER (5) -- (2-1) -- Last week, the Chargers defeated 1A-ranked West St. John, 44-6. "Anthony Scott -- our running back -- had one of the best all-time high school runs on a third-and-long," said junior DE/LB Lyn Clark, who registered four tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. Four-star corner Dwayne Thomas is committed to LSU. This week: McDonogh 35 (2-3)

6. ASSUMPTION (7) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Mustangs defeated 3A St. James, 48-21. Assumption amassed 518 yards of total offense, according to Wil Touchet of bayoupreps.com. QB Hunter Gauthreaux passed for two early TD passes. A key district showdown vs. South Terrebonne looms in week seven. This week: at Ellender Memorial (0-5)

7. ST. MICHAEL (8) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated 3A Jewel Sumner, 24-10. 6-foot-4 senior QB Dash Duncan hit Sonny Adams with a pair of scoring strikes. This week: at Belaire (1-4)

8. BELLE CHASSE (10) -- (5-0) -- Last week, the Cardinals defeated Vandebilt Catholic, 53-24. QB Asphen Gaines accounted for 385 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. Farron Jones caught five passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Three-star safety Quadry Antoine is committed to Mississippi State. Belle Chasse has scored at least 41 points in every game. This week: at Archbishop Shaw (2-2)

9. ST. MARTINVILLE (NR) -- (4-1) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated Opelousas, 43-27. No details were available. First-year head coach Gary Adkins has resurrected this proud St. Martin Parish program. He has a group of talented juniors that lead the way: RB Jamiah Nelson, LB DeQuincy Narcisse and WR Kendall Wiltz. This week: at No. 1 Breaux Bridge (5-0)

10. EAST JEFFERSON (NR) -- (2-2) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated then-No. 6 South Terrebonne, 34-27. Sophomore QB Eugene Wells ran for 244 yards on 17 carries, according to Perry Pitre of bayoupreps.com. Four-star CB Derek Raymond (ranked No. 14 in the nation at his position) is committed to LSU. This week: Warren Easton (2-3)
