Cody Brown Commits to MSU

Biloxi High School senior outfielder Cody Brown has verbally committed to play baseball for Mississippi State.

According to Cody's mother, Michelle Brown, "he verbally committed to (MSU head) Coach (John)Cohen (Wednesday) night and we are thrilled to be a part of MSU Baseball."

In addition to MSU's offer, Cody Brown also had an offer from another SEC school, LSU.

She explained why he chose Mississippi State over LSU and others that showed interest.

"He was 100% in love with everything MSU has to offer from the local area to academics and athletics," said Michelle.

Cody confirmed what his mother said about his choice of Mississippi State.

"The main reason I chose Mississippi State is because it just felt like a great fit - the atmosphere, the people, the team; everything was just a great fit for what I was looking for in a school outside of the baseball aspect of it," said Cody. "And also because the baseball is top notch which will allow me to further my skills at a high level of baseball."

Brown took an official visit to Mississippi State a little over two weeks ago and had some really nice things to say about Mississippi State during an interview with Gene's Page recruiting writer Drew White.

"My visit went great," Cody said. "They showed me everything that was in and around the athletic offices, which was really neat to get to see. I took a tour of all the facilities and saw the dorms where the players were. I love all the baseball facilities. The boxes and suites at the top were awesome, and I love the workout areas as well."

Last spring Brown hit .443 with 7 home runs. He also played in the Mississippi State Games this past summer.
