The second seed in the Starkville Regional, North Carolina enters postseason play with a 39-21 record. The Tar Heels defeated No. 1 national seed Florida State, 3-2, in the opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. They concluded the regular season with a 13-11 record in the ACC.
Missouri, the regional's third seed, finished the regular season with a record of 35-20. The Tigers finished fourth in the Big 12 with a 15-11 record.
Middle Tennessee, the fourth seed in the tournament, comes to Starkville with a record of 33-25. The Blue Raiders won the 2003 Sun Belt Conference and have won 10 of their last 11 games.
All-tournament tickets went on sale at noon Monday at the MSU Athletic Ticket Office in the Bryan Athletic Administration Building. Current MSU chairback seat owners have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, to exercise their seating priority in the purchase of regional tournament chairback seat tickets. Chairback seats are priced at $50 each and cover all games of the tournament.
Bleacher and outfield terrace all-tournament tickets will also go on sale Tuesday, and are priced at $40 apiece. The MSU Athletic Ticket Office can be reached at 662-325-2600 or 1-888-GO-DAWGS. Regional tickets may be purchased over the counter at the Bryan Building.
Game 1 between No. 2 North Carolina and No. 3 Missouri will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30. No. 1 Mississippi State and No. 4 Middle Tennessee will face each other at 6 p.m.
The winner of the Starkville regional will face the winner of the Georgia Tech regional. Since Georgia Tech is one of the eight national seeds, they will host the Super Regional if they win their regional.
