2013 RHP Commits to MSU

One of the top junior pitchers in the nation, Sparkman (AL) High School righthanded pitcher Austin Sexton has committed to Mississippi State.

Austin Sexton Profile:

"I just committed to MSU to play baseball," said Austin, who chose Mississippi State over his other two finalists, Auburn and Ole Miss.

He explained why he felt Mississippi State was the right choice for him.

"I love (Mississippi State pitching) Coach (Butch) Thompson and the way he handles his pitchers. I love (Mississippi State head) Coach (John) Cohen and the way he runs his program.

"And it's a great baseball school that I feel will be competing for a ring very soon.

"It's also a good fit for me and my family. And my grandparents live about 25 to 30 minutes away in Columbus (Mississippi), so I can always go see them if I want to."

Austin, who plays his summer ball with the prestigious Dulins Dodgers travel team program, joins previously committed Reid Humphreys, a shortstop/righthanded pitcher from Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, Mississippi, and Derek Martin , a righthanded pitcher/infielder from Tri-County Academy in Flora, Mississippi.
