P.J. Hardwick, Jr. Signs With MSU

Christian Life Center Academy's (Humble, Texas) lightning quick point guard P.J. Hardwick, Jr. has signed with Mississippi State basketball.

Mississippi State started recruiting him during the summer after watching him play in a couple of summer events.

"(Mississippi State) started recruiting me in the summer," said P.J., who played his AAU ball with the Houston Hoopstars "They saw me in the summer at Las Vegas and Indianapolis at the adidas Invitational. (After talking) to Coach Stansbury I just felt like this was the best decision for me."

He committed the same day he signed with State.

"I actually committed the last day of the signing period," said P.J., who chose MSU over his other two finalists, Texas A&M and South Florida. "I didn't really know much about the program but every time I talked to (MSU head basketball) Coach (Rick) Stansbury he talked about the family atmosphere and how much they could bring to the table and help me better my game."

P.J. talked about the reasons why he chose Mississippi State.

"They have a great campus, good for education, it will give me the opportunity to better myself as a person and as a player," said the youngster. "They also have such a nice (practice) facility, a nice campus, everything is really nice. And the SEC is the best conference to play ball in, football and basketball."

Mississippi State also signed his teammate, Josh Gray, which was also a positive for State.

"It is great that Josh will also be there because we are best friends and we work out every night against each other to get better," said P.J.

Speaking of playing football in the SEC, P.J. will be watching an SEC football game on his official visit.

"I've taken an unofficial visit there but I'm going to take my official visit on the 26th of this month to the Ole Miss game," he said.

P.J. joins Bulldog class of 2012 signees Josh Gray, Fred Thomas, Craig Sword and Gavin Ware.
