"I thought he was throwing fine. He probably dropped his arm a little lower than he should have. He always has arm-side run. He always has a few misses where he misses in. He just picked the wrong guy to miss in on."
Talk about the two home runs that Farrell hit.
"They were both fastball inside. They were supposed to be away but they just kind of missed over the middle of the plate."
Talk about how your pitching did against Farrell in both games.
"The first game we did pretty good against him (because) we stayed away from him. (Today) we threw him some sliders, but couldn't get them over. We were just trying to get fastballs away, bump him off the plate. Both of them had arm-side run and they ran back over the plate."
You've got to feel for Manny since this was his senior season.
"I feel sorry for Manny, but he's alright. He had four great years here. He had a great year this year. He led the ball club in almost every category there was besides, maybe, home runs."
Talk a little about the freshmen who played this year.
"Hunter made that good play (catching what would have been a home run over the fence in center). Corley got key hits throughout the weekend. Butts was 4-for-4 or 4-for-5 last night."
Talk about the freshmen that were redshirted this year.
"(1B/OF) Brian LaNinfa has a great bat. Tyler Jones can play and is a good outfielder. We have (RHP) Mike Valentine. We have (INF) Casey Hamilton. He can swing it. We also have some good recruits coming in, too. We have (INF) Bunky Kateon coming in. He is supposed to be pretty good.
You already have three freshmen outfielders and a couple of the redshirt freshmen that you mentioned are outfielders. Where will all these guys play?
"LaNinfa also plays first. He will probably be like Robby (Goodson). He can swing (the bat). Tyler will give the ones who started this year a run for their money. He'll put the ball in play. And he is probably the fastest guy on our team."
You are going to have to replaced a few players next season, seniors and, probably, a few juniors.
"Yeah, we are losing Manny. And we have a great chance of losing (juniors) Paul (Maholm), Paps (Papelbon) and Steve (Gendron) and, maybe, (Matthew) Brinson. You never know. We will have a lot of gaps to fill, especially with Paul, who dominated the entire year. Paps dominated the whole year until, maybe, his last three outings. But, we have people like (Jeff) Lacher, Alan (Johnson), Jamie Gant coming back. We have Robby (Goodson). I think we will be fine next year. We just have to have a few freshmen step up like they did this year. Nobody thought that (the freshmen) would do what we did this year. I'm sure next year's freshmen will do that same."
Do you feel the tournament experience gave you guys a taste of what it was really like.
"Yeah, it was all that it was cracked up to be. We had a lot of fans out here. For the most part, they stayed with us. They left yesterday and today. Heck, this is a great place to play baseball. It has a great tradition."
As a starting freshman, what were some of the things you learned this year?
"I figured out that you are going to be tired because you are a catcher. I let some of the injuries get the best of me this year. I got stronger. I figured out how to call a game better. We also had leaders, like Paul and Manny, but they weren't vocal leaders. I was a freshman this year, but, maybe, next year I can be a vocal leader."
