Redmond Talks Tough

Memphis East standout Will Redmond committed to Mississippi State over several offers shortly before the football season started. Since that time some new suitors have tried to get into the mix with Will, but he has maintained his allegiance to Coach Dan Mullen's Bulldogs. Redmond and his mother took an official visit to Starkville this weekend to learn more about Will's college home.

"The visit went really good," said Redmond. "I had a really nice time.

Ferlando Bohanna was my host and that was good because we were already close. He showed me around and told me some things I needed to know.

"It helps having them over there because he is somebody I already know."

Redmond's man on the inside told him what to expect next season.

"He told me that it's a grind and that you don't get days off," said Redmond. "He told me they are always grinding and that was one of the main reasons he went down there.

"I enjoyed getting to talk to him and getting to know some of my other future teammates.

"That was probably the best part of the trip. There were several of us on the visit that are going to Mississippi State, so we just all got closer with our class."

During the weekend, visitors had the chance to speak with Coach Dan Mullen about the future in Starkville.

"Coach Mullen told me that they are really excited about me getting up there," said Redmond. "He told me that they are putting together a team up there that is going to compete for championships.

"I had a real good time and my mom went with me. She really enjoyed herself too."

Media reports surfaced last week that suggested Redmond may take official visits to Miami and Ohio State in the coming weeks.

When asked if he planned to take those trips, Redmond replied, "I don't know.

"I am solid in my commitment to Mississippi State and I am looking forward to getting up there."
