Chris Herring Update

[Premium Article] Linebacker Chris Herring, who played for power house South Panola High School in Batesville, Mississippi, was one of the top linebackers in the south coming out of high school. He recently tranferred from Ole Miss to Northwest Mississippi CC. Chris has seen his recruitment heat up again, and, as before, Mississippi State is one of the teams on his list of schools that he is interested in. Gene's Page caught up with Chris Wednesday night.

What schools called you during the spring evaluation period?
Chris Herring: "LSU, Auburn, Memphis, Mississippi State and Texas Tech."

Have all of them offered scholarships?
"All of them have offered."

Do you have a list of favorites among those schools?
"No sir, not really."

What do you like about Mississippi State?
"The past couple of years their style of defense. Coach Sherrill, he is a straight up coach."

What coach from MSU called you during May?
"Coach Blake."

What were your impressions of him?
"He was really cool."

What do you think about the other schools that called you?
"It would be hard to say because I haven't visited them yet."

When do you plan on getting out of junior college?
"Hopefully, in December."

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, Chris.
"Ok, thank you."
