  • Being selected to play in any all-star game is an honor but being selected to play in an all-star game that includes the best players in a state is even more unique. Sword earned that honor with his selection to the Alabama team that played in the Mississippi-Alabama all-star game in Montgomery, Alabama on March 16th. He talked about that honor and what it meant to him personally.

"It means a lot to me because they picked players from our state and I happen to be one of them," said Sword. "I realized that if I had a good season this year I had a chance to play in it. My cousin, who is a girl, played in it and I kind of looked up to her and was motivated by that to play in it when I got older."

Sword signed with Mississippi State during the early signing period. He talked about how the retirement of Mississippi State head men's basketball coach affects his decision to attend State.

"I found out about it (Thursday)," said Sword. "I thought about it but I don't know what I will do. If they release me I might decommit, but I really haven't thought about it. I want to see who the new coach is and see if he is as good a person as Rick, because Rick is a good person. I really want to wait and see what he is like because I want to go there for real. I like Mississippi State."
