MSU Receives First Commitment

Copiah-Lincoln Community College wide receiver Devante Scott, who initially signed with Mississippi State coming out of high school, has re-committed to the Bulldogs coaching staff.

"I decided to go ahead and commit to Mississippi State again," said Scott. " They are the main ones that are still talking to me. I committed to Coach John Hevesy. He recruited me out of high school, too."

He explained some other things he liked about Mississippi State that sealed the deal for him.

"I like the spread offense and feel like I fit in with that type offense," said Scott, who led his team in catches this past season while also being second in the state in punt returns. "They told me they are losing a bunch of receivers and that they need me to come in and make plays. They said they want to put the ball in my hands as much as possible."

While he's now got his college choice taken care of, he has some unfinished business on the community college level. Winners of five of nine games last season, Scott expects better results this coming season.

"We had an alright season last year but I expect us to win a lot more games this year," said Scott.

Devante Scott is Mississippi State's first commitment for the class of 2013.
