It will be the first time that McGee has played center, but a number of colleges have already been projecting him to play there at the next level.
"I've not played center before but most schools are telling me that they want me for center," said McGee. "Some are saying guard, but I think I prefer center."
McGee will also play on the defensive line this fall, but knows his future lies on offense.
"All of the recruiting attention is coming on offense so I'm really going to focus on it this year," said McGee.
"I'm hearing from Colorado, Cal and Washington, mainly," said McGee. "Colorado and Washington are going to come out during the spring to check me out. Coach (Steve) Marshall is who I'm talking with at Colorado and at Washington its Coach (Tosh) Lupoi and Coach (Dan) Cozzetto."
McGee was at the U.S. Army Combine in January but doesn't have any upcoming camp plans, however he's hoping to take some unofficial visits this spring.
"I want to visit some SEC schools and maybe Notre Dame and Boston College," said McGee. "I know I want to take some official visits before I decide."
McGee said he's not set on playing on the West Coast in college.
"I'm open to going anywhere," said McGee. "I just want to go to a school that runs the ball a lot. I want to play early too. I think a redshirt year would be good, but I'd still like to play early."
