According to Piney Woods School head coach Lemuel Jones, several colleges are recruiting Phillip.
"Arkansas, UTEP, Texas at San Antonio, Middle Tennessee State, Morehead State are showing interest in him," said Jones. "Tulsa also called. And over the last week or so he has been receiving a lot of interest from Mississippi State."
As of now, Phillip has received five offers.
"He has received offers from UTEP, San Antonio, Middle (Tennessee State), Morehead (State) and Northwestern State," said Jones. "Arkansas and Mississippi State haven't offered yet."
At this point it appears no schools is leading the others for his signature.
"He has kind of talked about the schools but like I tell a lot of people he just wants to go where he can play," said Jones. "He's just one of those type kids where it doesn't matter where he is playing."
Coach Jones described the type player Phillip is.
"He is more of a 3/4 and is about 6-6.5 (tall)," said Jones. "He's more of a wing but he can play the post, too. He is a very, very explosive wing player. He is probably the most athletic player in the state, by far. This year, he averaged 27 (points per game), 12 (rebounds per game) and 3 (blocks per game)."
Phillip is originally from the Bahamas and has played basketball for Piney Woods School for two years.
