You've gone back and forth on the offensive and defensive lines. Do you think they will finally leave you at offensive guard?
"I guess it depends on how the season goes, injury-wise. I might have to move around due to that. Last year, I had to play tackle because there was no other guard that could play that position. However, hopefully, I will be able to stay at right guard."
How much did you get to play right guard this past spring?
"Almost the entire spring."
You feel like you understand the position?
"I have it down. I just have to learn the new (offensive) system."
Do you feel you learned most of the new system during the spring?
"Yeah, as far as the plays are concerned, but we just have to learn the different techniques, the different styles of blocking."
What do you think you still need to work on so that you can improve your overall game?
"Probably run-blocking, double teams, things like that."
What do you think about your new coach, Steve Campbell? I just noticed a gleam in your eye when I asked that question.
"He is very energetic. He will make sure you handle your business and do what you are supposed to do. We need the discipline he brings."
How important is it to you to have a coach who has won a national championship before?
"It is very important because he knows how to win. We kind of got away from that the last couple of years, but he is going to help bring us back."
You hurt your ankle during the spring. How are you doing?
"I'm about 100%. By two-a-days, I will be ready."
What about yourself? Have people talked about how hard you are working?
"Yeah, Coach Grant has told me to keep working hard and that we need people like me to push everybody else."
