A Mississippi State signee out of high school, Corvelli had to go the juco route due to academics.
One of the top defensive ends in the junior college ranks in Mississippi, Corvelli runs the forty yard dash in 4.73 seconds. He used that speed very well last season, recording 11 sacks and 53 tackles as a starting defensive end.
During the spring evaluation period, Corvelli told me that he received calls from, "Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee, the University of Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and West Virginia."
Of those schools, he said the ones who offered scholarships were, "Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and West Virginia."
A Mississippi State commitment out of high school, Corvelli still likes MSU but is no longer committed to them. A factor that Corvelli told me plays into that fact is the NCAA investigation of MSU.
"Mississippi State is under investigation by the NCAA," said Corvelli. "If they don't go on probation, I will probably go to Mississippi State. If they do go on probation, I'm not. In that case, the other schools I would consider are Ole Miss, the University of Georgia and the University of Florida."
Although he is very interested in Georgia, as of now, Georgia hasn't contacted Corvelli by phone, nor have they offered him a scholarship. Although Florida hasn't offered him a scholarship, Corvelli told me that they definitely have an interest in him. "When Florida comes down to watch (MDCC teammate) Claude Wroten, they are going to check me out as well."
