"The spring has been going good for us," said Wells. "We had our last spring practice today.
"Our jamboree is tomorrow night. We play over at Franklin County against Amite County and Hazlehurst.
"I am looking forward to it."
The staff at Bogue Chitto likes to move Wells around on offense in order to get a maximum contribution from the talented play maker.
"I am still playing some quarterback," said Wells. "When I play receiver, we have another quarterback who can get the ball to me.
"I feel like we're going to have a good year either way."
Wells reports that some college recruiters have recently made the trek through the river town to see how things stand.
"I am still happy with my decision though and I am looking forward to going up to Mississippi State."
The south Mississippi standout reports that he has regular contact with the Mississippi State coaching staff and that he recently spoke to his future position coach and head coach.
"I just got done talking to Coach Mirando," said Wells. "He was telling to me catch a lot of balls and keep working on my hands, so I will be ready to go when I get up there.
"I like Coach Mirando. I feel like I am going to enjoy playing for him and having him as my coach.
"I talked to Coach Mullen a couple of nights ago.
"He was telling me to keep working hard and to remember that school has to come first.
"He told me that he wants those high Cs to be Bs and those Bs to become As.
"Coach Mullen said he was excited to have me in the class and that they are excited about getting me up there."
Wells says that his family is equally excited about his decision to wear the Maroon and White.
"My family is still real excited and they all tell me that they are proud of me," said Wells. "My mama told me that she is going to shed a few tears when I leave, but that she is happy for me.
"She wants me to work hard and make something of myself."
