Starting Pitching (I will use the last three outings as a stats reference point) - Injuries have really hurt UAB this season. Starters have moved to the bullpen at times while relievers have been moved to the starting rotation. Most recently, senior RHP Michael Busby (5-4, 3.90 ERA), senior LHP Ryan Nance (4-3, 3.66), sophomore RHP Chase Mallard (4-4, 3.13) and redshirt sophomore RHP Ruben Tresgallo (1-0, 8.84) have been the main starters.
In his last three starts Busby has thrown 19.2 innings, giving up 9 runs (all earned) on 19 hits and 5 walks while striking out 13 for a 4.11 ERA.
Nance, who up until recently was UAB's main closer, has been moved to the starting rotation. In his two most recent starts he threw 11.1 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits and 5 walks while striking out 7 for a 0.79 ERA.
Mallard, a long reliever for UAB, started a game recently and was also brought in to replace a starter who had to be removed prior to the beginning of the game. In his last three outings, including those two games, he threw 16.0 innings, giving up 11 runs (10 earned) on 21 hits and 5 walks while striking out 11. His three-game ERA is 5.63.
Tresgallo has started one game recently and allowed 3 runs (all earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 in 3.1 innings for a 8.11 ERA.
Mississippi State has recently been using junior RHP Chris Stratton (11-1, 2.21 ERA), junior RHP Kendall Graveman (4-4, 2.92) and freshman RHP Brandon Woodruff (1-2, 2.38) as their three-man rotation. Sophomore RHP Evan Mitchell has (2-1, 3.52) also been used as a starter in SEC action as well.
Stratton, one of the top pitchers in the nation and recently named the SEC Pitcher of the Year by the league coaches, has performed well in his last three appearances, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 17 hits and 4 walks while striking out 22 in 19.1 innings. His three-start ERA is 2.33.
Graveman, who has been nursing a groin pull the past couple of weeks, has also performed well in his last three outings, giving up 4 runs (all earned) on 14 hits and 1 walk to go along with his 6 Ks in 13.2 innings. His ERA during that span is 2.63.
Woodruff, who became MSU's third starter the past two SEC weekends, has done well. In his last three outings, two against SEC teams, he has only allowed 1 run on 8 hits and 5 walks while striking out 11 in 12 inning. His three-game ERA is 0.75.
In his last two starts, Mitchell has given up 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 6 walks while striking out 5 in 5.1 innings.
Relief Pitching (Stats are from the last three or four conference series) - As mentioned about, injuries have really hurt UAB this season. Due to the injuries, as far as I can tell, the main relievers lately have been the following pitchers - senior LHP David Hayes (1-0, 0 S, 5.04 ERA), senior RHP Dillon Napoleon (5-4, 2 S, 4.85), freshman RHP Alex Luna (1-1, 0 S, 9.15) and freshman LHP Dylan Munger (2-4, 1 S, 5.98).
Hayes has been used as a closer and a middle reliever of late. In his three recent outings he threw 8 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. His three-game ERA is 1.13.
Napoleon is one of those guys who has moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen. His job has been to close out games. In his most recent four outings, all as a closer, he threw 8.1 innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) on 11 hits and 5 walks while striking out 6. His ERA during that span is 4.32.
Luna, during the last three conference weekends, has been used as a closer, a middle reliever and a starter. In his three outings, he has thrown 3.1 innings, giving up 9 runs (8 earned) on 11 hits and 3 walks to go along with his 1 K. His three-game ERA is 21.62.
Munger has been used in long relief. During his two outings he has given up 3 runs (all earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 1 in 6.0 innings for an ERA of 4.50.
Mississippi State will primarily use 7 pitchers in relief - redshirt freshman LHP Ross Mitchell (2-0, 0 S, 1.02 ERA), senior RHP Caleb Reed (1-5, 8 S, 2.56), freshman RHP Jonathan Holder (2-0, 9 S, 0.00), freshman LHP Jacob Lindgren (2-2, 1 S, 3.33), junior LHP Luis Pollorena (4-0, 0 S, 1.85), redshirt junior LHP Nick Routt (3-5, 0 S, 3.83), and redshirt sophomore Ben Bracewell (0-0, 0 S, 0.96).
In his last 7 outings, Mitchell has thrown 16.1 innings, giving up 0 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks while striking out 9. His ERA is 0.00. He is mainly used in middle relief.
Reed has thrown in 7 games in the last three conference series (including the SEC Tournament). In those 7 games he has given up 1 run on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in 9.1 innings. His ERA is 0.96. He is mainly used as a setup main for closer Holder.
Holder has become MSU's closer during the last half of SEC play. In the last three SEC series he has thrown in 8 games, allowing 0 runs on 0 hits and 1 walk while striking out 9 in 7.2 innings. His ERA is obviously 0.00.
Lindgren has been used in middle relief and has also started one game during the last three SEC series. During his 4 outings, he has given up 5 runs (all earned) on 10 hits and 2 walks to go along with his 11 Ks in 11.0 innings.

Routt has thrown in 4 games in the last three SEC series, giving up 1 run on 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 in 5.1 innings. He's used mostly in middle relief.
Bracewell has been battling an injury for much of the SEC season but has started throwing in SEC games again recently. In his last three outings (2 in SEC play) he has given up 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7 in 6.2 innings. He's mainly used in middle relief.
