Thanks to an outstanding performance at Mississippi State's camp this past Friday, Jones received an offer from the MSU coaching staff. Chris, on Monday, accepted the offer by giving a verbal commitment to the State coaches. He explained why he decided to commit.
"I committed to Mississippi State," said Jones. "I just love the whole campus. I love everything about it, the people around it and the atmosphere."
MSU head man Dan Mullen was very happy to take the verbal.
"He was very excited about me committing," said Jones.
The time he spent at the MSU camp allowed him to learn more about the coaches at MSU, especially his future position coach Chris Wilson.
"I love that guy," said Jones. "I love his personality. He told me he really likes me but I'm going to be like any other kid and work hard."
He talked about why Mullen and Wilson liked him so much.
"The coaches said Fletcher Cox and me are like twins," said Jones. "I know about him. He was a first-round pick (in the NFL draft)."
Jones joins fellow Bulldog commitments South Panola (MS) High School offensive tackle Deon Mix, Manatee (FL) High School quarterback Cord Sandberg, Hollandale Simmons (MS) High School offensive lineman Kent Flowers, Gadsden City (AL) High School wide receiver B.J. Hammond, Bogue Chitto (MS) High School wide receiver Brandon Wells and Copiah-Lincoln (MS) Community College wide receiver Devante Scott.
