CoachSpeak: Brown on Bouldin

Canton (MS) High School 2013 offensive lineman Daronte Bouldin is the type player you would want on your football team and the type person you would want your daughter to date.

  • Name: Daronte Bouldin
  • Classification: 2013
  • High School: Canton (MS) High School
  • Position: OL
  • HT: 6-foot-4.5, WT: 310
  • Ranking: 3-Star
  • Schools of Interest: Alabama, Arkansas, Arkansas State (Offer), Jackson State (Offer), Louisiana (Offer), Louisiana-Monroe (Offer), Mississippi State (Offer), Ole Miss (Offer), Purdue, Southern Miss (Offer), Tulane (Offer)

Daronte has eight offers and the summer is not even halfway over. The offers increase almost weekly because after each college camp he attends, most of the time he leaves the camp with a new offer in hand.

His high school head coach, Peter Brown, knows exactly why he has received those offers.

"It's his ability and talent," said Brown. "He's a 6-foot-4.5, 310 pound athlete. He could play basketball, and he's outstanding trackster. He probably could play baseball if he wanted to. He's just an athlete."

He's also just as nice off the field as he is good on it.

"He's a great kid on top of that athletic ability," said Brown. "He's also humble. He's nice off the football field and gets along with everybody."

He also is someone who gives back to his community, something that a lot of teenagers might not do.

"He works with the In-His-Steps Ministry, a ministry in Canton that works with underprivileged kids," said Brown. "He works there two days a week during the summer working with underprivileged kids, helping them with their schoolwork as well as athletic type things. He probably works there about 8 hours a week. This is his second summer working with the ministry."

Bouldin is currently making the college camp rounds this summer.
