Maurice Dunlap, one of the top guards in the Mississippi class of 2014, talks about his commitment to Mississippi State.
"I committed to Mississippi State today," said Dunlap. "I told Coach Ray. He was all smiles and happy. That made me feel real good and I was smiling about (his reaction)."
This all came about after Dunlap camped at Mississippi State. The MSU coaches liked what they saw from him at the camp.
"I came to their camp and they invited me back for a visit," said Dunlap.
Dunlap and his parents took the coaches up on their offer of a visit and came back to Mississippi State today. And they came away very impressed with what they saw.
"I came on a visit today," said Dunlap. "The campus was great. I liked the coaching staff. And Coach (Rick) Ray was a wonderful coach. He told me some things about the program."
Coach Ray was one of the main reasons he decided to go ahead and commit on his visit.
"I like his personality," said Dunlap. "He always strives for excellence. And he loves for his kids to get their education."
His parents were just as impressed with Coach Ray as Maurice was.
"My parents loved him but they said it was all up to me (to make the decision)," said Dunlap.
Dunlap had other interest in addition to Mississippi State.
"I had Ole Miss, and Mississippi State of course, Louisiana Tech and some others who were recruiting me," he said.
Dunlap is the first commitment for the class of 2014 for Rick Ray and his staff.
