"I committed to Mississippi State," said Tatum. "It was a very exciting experience for me.
Tatum talked about why he felt Mississippi State was the right choice for him.
"I love (Mississippi State assistant) Coach (Butch) Thompson and I love the atmosphere of the baseball program," he said.
The Mississippi State coaches were just as excited about the decision as he was.
"I committed to (Mississippi State head) Coach (John) Cohen and Coach Thompson and both were very excited about it," said Tatum.
He explained what the process was like the past week and a half while he was thinking about his various options.
"It was a really long and stressful process but my parents and my brother helped me figure things out," said.
"I made my decision a couple of days ago. It came down to narrowing things down and it came down to Mississippi State."
Tatum chose Mississippi State over scholarship offers from Air Force, Memphis, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Tulane.
