Black, the 6th ranked power forward in Scout.com's class of 2014, recently played in the Nike Elite Youth Invitational in Augusta, Georgia for Team Thad. As you would expect, numerous college coaches were attendance to watch Black and his teammates play. Black named some colleges that are recruiting him.
"Baylor, Memphis, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Mississippi State, NC State, Texas, UConn, Georgetown, that's about it," he said.
He has numerous offers and named a few.
"I have offers from Baylor, Memphis, UConn, NC State, Texas," said the youngster, who also has mentioned offers from Georgetown, Missouri, Tennessee and Ole Miss during past stories on Scout.com.
Black doesn't take any of his offers lightly.
"I appreciate the offers a bunch," he said. "I know that I would like to go to the NBA (someday) but just to know that I have my college paid for is great. It is big for me to know that I will get a free education."
And education is important to Black, a good student in the classroom. But being a good student is required in the Black household.
"My mom is a teacher," he said. "She teaches Algebra II and Geometry."
Black is obviously just as good on the court as he is in the classroom based on his interest and offers. He explains what he brings to his team when on the court.
"On offense, I do a lot of slashing and pushing it for my team from coast to coast," he said. "I also get a lot of rebounds. Defensively, I play with a lot of intensity and aggression. We play hard on defense."
