"The reason I committed to Mississippi State was because on both of my visits I felt really comfortable. No other place made me feel like Mississippi State did. When I went to the Big Dawg Camp I knew that was where I needed to be.
"I am really excited to have a chance to play in the SEC against the best players in the nation. I feel like it is going to make me a better player and make me work even harder."
The Mississippi State coaches, who were preparing for their first day of training camp which is Thursday, were excited to hear the welcomed news.
"I talked to Coach Mirando, the wide receivers coach first," said Christy. "Then I talked to Coach Mullen and Coach Knox. They were all super excited.
"Coach Mullen said he can't wait to get me up there. He said he wants to get the ball in my hands and let me make plays for the offense."
Christy's commitment puts an exclamation point on what is fast becoming an outstanding group of wide receivers in this year's Bulldog recruiting class.
"Coach Mullen is putting together a great class," he said. "Our receivers, B.J. Hammond, DeAndre Woods, Scott Austin, and me are all 6-foot-4 across the board. We have a chance to be one of the best and deepest wide receiving corps in the nation."
With his senior season fast-approaching, Christy's plans now are to focus on it. As far as he is concerned, recruiting is over except for signing on the dotted line in February.
"I am done with recruiting and now I am just ready to prepare for my senior season," he said.
Shelby Christy did have a final comment about his future coaches and team.
"I love all of the coaches and I can't wait to be a Bulldog," he said.
