"Twin Towers"

Linebacker Kwon Alexander is on campus at LSU after what many considered a signing day surprise. Many had the Oxford, Alabama product headed to Auburn, but Alexander elected to join a different breed of Tigers, the Baton Rouge variety. As the leader of the Oxford defense a season ago, Alexander knows first hand what type of players that program is producing.

Mississippi State recently picked up commitments from Oxford defensive ends Ulric Jones and Trent Simpson.

Alexander is well acquainted with both players and he expects big things from them this year and on into college.

"Ulric is a good player," said Alexander. "We've known each other for a long time and I have watched him get bigger and stronger.

"I have heard he has been working real hard in practice too.

"He committed to Mississippi State and I am sure that's a good decision for him."

The former four star linebacker talks about defensive end Trent Simpson with a sly grin on his face.

"Trent is just like Ulric," said Alexander. "We all called them the twin towers.

"They are both great players and they helped us have a good defensive line when I was there.

"They are both humble and they are great players."

Oxford high has been a hotbed for SEC recruiters the past few years.

Alexander hopes that his senior class helped bring that program to new heights.

"Oxford has always had athletes, but not everybody was getting seen," explained Alexander. "I guess our class was really one of the first ones to get out and go to a lot of camps.

"We were seen by a lot of people. I think that made a difference for us."
