Dudley Guice Update

[Premium Article] Gene's Page recently did a recruiting interview with Dudley Guice, a 6-3, 205-pound wide/defensive back, who plays for Trinity Episcopal Day School in Natchez, Mississippi.

Dudley, possibly one of the top sleepers in the state of Mississippi, is a three-sport athlete (football, basketball, track) who is very successful in all three.

He made the 1st-Team 2003 All-MPSA Boys Basketball team, one of just two juniors to make 1st team. In track, Dudley, a member of the MPSA Class A 2003 state championship team, ran on the 800 and 400 relay teams, both of whom won their events. He was also second in the state meet in the 110 hurdles (15.6 seconds), 100 meters (11.23 seconds), and 200 meters (23.3 seconds), according to the Natchez Democrat newspaper.

Not only is he an excellent all-around athlete, but he also is an excellent student (3.5 grade point average). Look for his stock to rise as he attends summer football camps.

Dudley Guice Interview:

During the May evaluation period, did any college football coaches call you?
"Coach Hines called from (La.) Tech. Coach Campbell (from MSU). The Jackson State coach called. Tulane called. The Auburn coach called. Ole Miss also called."

What schools are showing the most interest in you?
"Louisiana Tech has been on me pretty hard. I've got three or four D-I schools on me, most of them from the SWAC. Ole Miss is on me pretty heavy. I went to their camp. I have a camp (today) at Auburn. Then I go to the basketball all-star camp on the 22nd. Then I go to (Mississippi) State's camp on the 26th."

You are pretty good in both football and basketball, aren't you?
"Yes sir."

Who is recruiting you for basketball?
"(Mississippi) State, Southern Miss and a couple of SWAC schools."

Since you are also a basketball player, do you know what your vertical is?
"I don't know what it is."

Can you two-hand dunk?
"I can do a 360 two-hand dunk if you want me to."

(Laugh). So, we can say you've got a pretty good vertical?
"Yes sir."

What is your maximum bench and squat?
"I maxed out on the bench two days ago. It was 240. On the squat, my coach didn't want me to do it just before the camps. I think I can max out at about 400."

What's your forty time?
"4.5. I think my fastest time in track was 11.1 (in 100 meters). My coach also has timed me and said I ran a 10.98 in the 100."
