Lewis will visit UL

Daniel Lewis has one offer (Hawaii) under his belt, and he's meeting with the Ragin' Cajuns' staff prior to kickoff Saturday...

Daniel Lewis got his first offer a few weeks ago from Hawaii, and the junior defensive back from New Iberia Senior High hopes to add another soon.

"Coach Hud wanted to make sure I'm coming to their game on Saturday," Lewis said. "He wants to talk with me at 1:30 P.M."

The Cajuns celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with a 4 P.M. kickoff versus South Alabama.

UL hosted Lewis earlier this year during a home game.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder is already a two-year starter at NISH, which reached the second round of the Class 5A playoffs before running into fifth-seeded Catholic-Baton Rouge Friday.

Lewis played corner, running back and quarterback (wildcat) for head coach Rick Hutson and the Yellow Jackets.

NISH garnered the 12th seed in the playoffs and beat a solid No. 21 Scotlandville squad in the first round, 13-8.

The Jackets finished with a 9-3 mark.

Lewis, who celebrates his 17th birthday today, ran for six touchdowns on offense. He could play RB, CB or SS on the next level.
