Basham Prepares for SEC Visit

Tarell Basham put together a strong high school career at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Despite some strong interest from D1 schools, Basham went unsigned and elected to enroll at Hargrave Military as part of their post graduate program. This weekend the talented pass rusher will take an official visit to Mississippi State to see what the Bulldogs have to offer.

"I am going to visit Mississippi State this weekend," said Basham. "I don't know a lot about them, but I like everything I have heard.

"Kivon (Coman) has told me a lot about it.

"I am going to do my best to learn all I can about the school and the team this weekend when I am down there for two days."

Basham, who is being recruited by Bulldogs' running backs' coach Greg Knox, says that he is open to playing wherever the team has a need for his services.

"They haven't really said if they want me to play defensive end or outside linebacker, but I am fine with either one," said Basham. "I just want to be able to contribute."

With an offer from Ohio in hand, Basham is hopeful that more options come his way soon.

"I have the offer from Ohio," said Basham. "I am getting a lot of interest from NC State and Texas Tech and of course Mississippi State.

"I think there is a good chance that Mississippi State offers me."

While the time in Military school has been tough at times, Basham rates his time at prep school as a positive experience.

"It's been tough," said Basham. "I have made the most of it though and I believe it's helped me build character.

"We get out in a few weeks and I am ready. Believe me I'm ready."
