Jones Leads Hornets to Playoff Win

It wasn't always pretty, but 2013 quarterback prospect Christian Jones helped lead San Antonio East Central over San Antonio Clark in the opening round of the playoffs.

"We started really slow, and I feel like we kind of got into what they wanted to do," Jones said. "But in the end, we fought back and got the win, and that's all that counts.

"That's what Coach Walker talks about all the time, lining up and being more physical than the other team," Jones said.

Jones has been an example of sacrificing for the team to win this season. He's split repetitions at quarterback with his younger brother, 2014 quarterback Jeremy Jones. And he embraced more of a running attack to take advantage of the Hornets' multiple rushing threats and strong offensive line, with Jones giving up individual numbers for team success.

But no matter what his stats were, Jones said he felt like he could impact the game.

"I feel like I've become more of a complete player," Jones said. "I've become a better leader, a better passer. The quarterback position is about leading, and I feel like I'm one of the best leaders out here, honestly. All my job is to do is to drive the bus and make sure my team gets into the end zone."

At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Jones has prototypical size for the position and he has the ability to make throws. Jones has an offer from Louisiana Lafayette, but has also received interest from bigger schools like Oklahoma through the recruiting process.
