"Schools that are showing interest in me are Michigan, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, South Alabama and Tennessee," said Haynes.
Although Haynes didn't attend any college football camps last summer, he has been very active in other areas when it comes to getting his name in front of college recruiters.
"Colleges found out about me by me attending games and sending out my (game) tape," said the talented receiver. "I have been to a lot of games. I've been to Alabama three times, Mississippi State three times, and I've been to Arkansas and Auburn."
Of those colleges, one has been paying a lot of attention to Haynes.
"The one that is looking at me the most is Mississippi State," said Haynes, who said he is being recruited by MSU assistant coach Geoff Collins. "When I go there they are very friendly and say things like, 'Montez Haynes, how are you doing today? We are glad to see you here. We look forward to seeing you.' I get that every time I go there. Then, when I go back the next time, they tell me, 'this could be your field right here.' "
And Montez will likely play on MSU's field this coming summer.
"I have been invited to attend the Tennessee camp, also the Alabama and Mississippi State camps, and I plan on going to all three," he said.
In addition to going to camps this summer, he also wants to attend at least one college junior day this spring.
"Mainly, I want to go to Mississippi State's Junior Day," said Montez. "I'm loving Mississippi State."
One other event that he plans on attending is not college-related but could be very big for him recruiting-wise.
"I've been invited to participate in the US Army All-American Combine in San Antonio, Texas (in January)," said Haynes, who recently ran a 4.5 forty-yard dash at a December 15th football combine.
