Antoine nearing a decision?

Is first-team all-state performer Jermaine "J.J." Antoine getting close to making a decision? Which three programs appear to have the inside track? Get the answers inside...

Jermaine Antoine is pondering putting off his decision until after February's National Signing Day.

"I'm thinking about signing late," he said while watching Loreauville defeat Covenant Christian Academy in basketball this week.

Antoine is taking the ACT one more time. He already has the requisite grades and simply needs a slight boost on his test score.

"I'm taking an official visit to TCU in January," he said. "I took an unofficial visit to North Texas around Thanksgiving. Coach (Justin) Gaines from North Texas is a big factor in my recruitment.

"North Texas visited here three weeks back-to-back. TCU is big, but you can't count out North Texas."

Antoine is impressed with North Texas' upcoming move to Conference USA.

He also said the Ragin' Cajuns from nearby Lafayette called recently.

"I'm being recruited by Coach Jay Johnson," Antoine said of the Cajuns' offensive coordinator. "I feel like they still have a scholarship on the table."

Antoine rushed for 1,400 yards and 26 touchdowns during his senior season at Loreauville, which reached the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

He played under head coach Trent Delahoussaye and offensive coordinator Rhett Peltier at Loreauville.

Antoine could see action at a variety of positions in college, such as wide receiver, safety and/or running back. He was also an effective return man during his prep career.
