"I'm still committed," he said. "I'm taking my official visit on January 11th through the 13th. I touched base with Coach (Brandon) Middleton today to let him know about my exams and to wish him a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
Gage says his parents "love Houston."
The Cougars continue to face opposition for Gage, however, with Southern Miss offering late this week.
"The Southern Miss coaches said they fell in love with my film and would love to have me down for a visit. They want to meet me and my family, and are coming to our house for a visit after the dead period."
"One my former coaches at Redemptorist is friends with Louisiana Tech's new head coach Skip Holtz," Gage explained. "Louisiana Tech wants to visit my house and for me to visit.
"I just talked to Kentucky's new coaches and they offered again. Kentucky offered me in track first, then football, but the offer was taken away for awhile after their old staff was fired."
Gage is contemplating visits to Southern Miss, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech and the Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette, in addition to his upcoming Houston official.
He was named first-team all-district and honorable-mention all-state (Class 5A) this year at Zachary, where he was coached by Neil Weiner.
Gage spent his first three years of high school at north Baton Rouge Catholic school Redemptorist before transferring to Zachary.
